Anyone buying on Amazon and delivering to Ecuador?

Hello,

The Amazon website/checkout claims that it will deliver to Ecuador. It sounds really good, good prices.

Has anyone done this?

I want to buy an inverter / charger for solar panels. It weighs about 30 pounds, would easily fit in a suitcase.

Amazon posts that the import costs would be just the IVA. Are there more customs charges than this? The item costs about $600 and the Amazon shipping charge would be about $170.

What is your experience?

Any additional costs at Customs, and is it delivered safely?

(Do they use DHL?)

The products you can buy and get shipped directly from Amazon are limited. I am using a third party service that will give you a different address in the states and then they will get it shipped to you through DHL FedEx etc. 0 0

Yes you can, but remember they use the 4x4 or Category B service that only applies to products with a maximum weight of 4kg and a maximum value of $400 USD. Is delivered by DHL at your house. 0 0

Of course it may have changed but there used to be a “4x4 rule” in place that limited shipments to 4 kilos or less and $400 or less. 0 0

there are other categories (category A and B) but you pay import duties on most things and a lot of things can't be brought in that way. 0 0

I haven't tried ordering directly from Amazon yet, but I did recently use the Shop-In website (these are the booths at Supermaxi). Received my items in about 2 weeks, no import or customs fees, and very easy to use. Might be worth taking a look at. 0 0
