A few months ago, I rescued a stray cat that appeared at my workplace. Shortly after, we discovered she was pregnant and, thanks to the care she received, she was able to safely give birth to five kittens.

A few weeks ago, we began working on a heartbreaking case involving around 50 dogs living in overcrowded conditions alongside an elderly man. They were all struggling to survive—sleeping on their own waste, receiving no veterinary care, and reproducing without any control.
Today, many of these dogs have already been rescued from that environment. They have received veterinary attention, been bathed, and sterilized. However, there are still dogs waiting to be rescued, and our work is far from over.
This is only the beginning. we urgently need food donations and financial support for veterinary care.

This test is done with specialized equipment and tells you about your cat’s kidney function. It is very precise and detects kidney problems much earlier than common studies. If the kidney has lost just 25% of its function, this test can detect that loss. I’m in desperate need to rehome a beautiful orange female kitty (about 1yr) that was a rescue. She’s a sweet girl who loves to talk and play. She gets along great with dogs, but unfortunately, we are having an issue with our large dog, playing and getting too rough with her, picking her up by the head or collar. I’m afraid the kitty is going to get hurt or worse. Everything was great the first couple of months but kitty is beginning to get stressed because of our dog. I believe she’d do better if she’s rehomed to a calmer environment. I’m not sure what else to do. we’ve tried using a pheromone diffuser, we separate the two of them when necessary, etc.
She had contracted Calcivirus (respiratory virus) as a kitten but is now healthy. (I recently had a Calcivirus PCR test done to see if she is a carrier and the results came back negative.) She’s had all of her shots, including the Calcivirus vaccine and has been spayed. I have all of her medical records. I’m hoping to find a loving home for her. She also uses Nutro Cristales as I was told she is sensitive to clay litter. She comes with a cat carrier, bed, toys, and any food or litter that we have. This gorgeous 18-month-old sheepdog girl was rescued and lovingly fostered by my wonderful friend, Barbara Saber, and she is truly something special. Honestly, if my house weren’t already overflowing with furry personalities, Sadie would have joined our pack in a heartbeat.
With her fluffy “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies” sheepdog charm, Sadie seems to float through life, spreading joy wherever she goes. Like many Old English Sheepdogs, she’s affectionate, goofy, intelligent, gentle, and wonderfully social. This sweet girl appeared on our front porch on May 4, and we have been calling her Sadie. She arrived matted, dirty, and with an injured paw that required veterinary care. Our vet stitched her paw, groomed her, and shaved away the painful mats. She is now healthy, comfortable, and ready for a loving home.
Sadie is approximately 18 months old, weighs about 50 pounds, and is in excellent health. She is sweet, friendly, playful, energetic, and very people-oriented. She clearly remembers being part of a family and wants very much to be close to her humans. we have already begun teaching her basic commands, and she seems intelligent and eager to learn.

Our dear Scarlett was abandoned in a vacant Lot near Cdla; had anemia due to severe malnutrition. At the time of rescue, Scarlett arrived with her 5 babies, of which only one baby survived due to extreme parasite infections.

As a matter of fact, we believe he is the perfect companion if you live in an apartment! He is neutered and all his shots are up-to-date.

Creating long-term, sustainable change in Cuenca, becoming “The City that Cares,” for animal welfare, depends on a powerful three-legged stool: prevention, sanctuary, and education. Each is essential, but it is through education that we plant the seeds for a more compassionate future.
Our FAAN Education Team is out in the community doing just that, recently bringing our Animal Kindness Program to Colegio Alemán Cuenca. With the help of “Sally,” a beloved member of our faculty, students learned what it truly means to care for a dog, not just as a pet, but as a valued member of the family.
These moments matter. They shape how the next generation sees, feels, and acts toward animals—and ultimately, how a community evolves.
