How about a little bundle of joy for Mother’s Day?

We rescued a desperate pregnant young cat, and now have six precious kittens to find homes for. Looking for responsible, loving indoor homes with a promise to sterilize when the correct age.

The kittens are seven weeks old and have been dewormed. They eat canned and dry kitten food, and are mostly litter box trained. We have three males and three females.

Trap for feral cat

I am looking for the loan or rental of a trap for a feral cat. I want to get her spayed before she has another litter. On another note, I have 4 gorgeous kittens who will be looking for a forever home. With the trap I (hopefully) will not have more kittens needing homes.

Unique and darling Fira for adoption

Meet Fira!

Fira is about one-year old and weighs 13kg and is considered to be medium size. She is already spayed, vaccinated, wormed and given flea meds.

Fira gets dizzy while on extended car trips. She reacts by drooling. We recommend medication from the vet to control motion sickness. Other than that, she is a completely healthy and vibrant girl.

Fira has numerous desirable attributes! She walks well on a leash. She is very friendly with other dogs, children and people. She has not lived with cats before. She is already housetrained!

Fira will make a great house dog. She has excellent indoor manners. She doesn’t mind sleeping outside from time to time.

She appears to be adaptable and flexible.

To schedule a meet and greet with Fira, please contact me.

Help us get to our new home!

We have come so far, but still have so far to go. Because of your kind donations we have been able to secure the property for our furry friends, get a few some vetting that they were desperately in need of, and make a deposit on the transportation. For the vetting and transportation, we are still short $4,100. Please continue to share this! The current paws thank you in advance. Please check our “updates” section to see the updates and receipts.

For over six years, I’ve dedicated myself to rescuing dogs in Ecuador, all while being a single mom without assistance with the children in the country. Now, as I prepare to leave next month, my heart is set on ensuring the safety and well-being of the remaining 10 dogs and one cat under my care. These furry companions haven’t yet found their forever homes, and I simply can’t bear the thought of leaving them to fend for themselves on the streets. To make this transition possible, I’m reaching out for support to cover the expenses of transporting each animal across the border, along with necessary vetting costs. It amounts to approximately $428 per animal, encompassing transportation logistics and essential medical care.

Female dog for adoption

Fira has never had a family. She was born in the countryside and lived in a house where they sometimes gave her food. I caught her to spay her, but I learned that the owners of that house brought two large dogs that attacked Fira, causing her to take refuge in the mountains, so we decided to train her so that she could have the opportunity to be adopted.

Fira walks on a leash, is friendly with other dogs and children, is vaccinated, spayed, dewormed and flea treated. She is medium-sized (13-15kg). Fira is 1 year old. If you’re looking for a new member of your family, consider giving Fira a try.

I usually help dogs in vulnerable situation that need food or to be spayed. If you want to support me with dog food or sponsor a spaying, you can also contact me.

1 year old terrier hound mix

Good morning! This handsome devil is Gus. But if you’re lucky enough to adopt him, you can change his name because he’s only had it for about a week.

Gus is a 1-year-old neutered male. He was hit by a car on the street near me and I’ve taken him in temporarily. He did not have any broken bones and is healing nicely. He would make an amazing partner for someone who loves to run or ride a bike because Gus loves to run!

He’s energetic and sweet and protective and goofy. He’s very good and gentle around children and good with other dogs. Sadly, my three dogs do not like him. He is so inquisitive and sweet and tries to be friends with them but we’re talking senior dogs set in their ways vs a puppy here. Also, considering I already have three dogs, my landlords are starting to get a little nervous about hoarding. Even if you can’t adopt, if you could possibly foster that would be great!

Beautiful small dog rescued; seeks forever home

Beautiful little girl found in the rain last weekend in Baños. She was shivering and very skinny. She was scared and hungry – couldn’t look away. She weighs 16 lbs and is approximately 1 and a half years old.

She is a cuddle bug and loves to lay in your lap. I had her checked out at the vet, she is being treated for fleas and parasites as a preventative measure, but appears in good health. She’s already gained weight since I picked her up. She has had babies before so sterilization is recommended. I am happy to assist with this.

I would keep her if I could! She is a real gem and will be a lovely companion to the right person.

Please contact me via cell or email. Happy to send more photos and schedule a visit. Thanks.

Become a FAAN Godparent, foster family or adopter

Today we’re launching our “We Believe” campaign to promote animal adoption and FAAN’s God-Parenting Program that enables animal lovers who are unable to adopt for reasons like travel, having too many pups, not being in Cuenca or your landlord is not pet friendly, to become a Godparent to one of our FAAN shelter dogs. We are now contending with a seasonal swelling of mothers and puppies in addition to our young and senior FAAN dogs so your help is needed now more than ever.

This is a great time and program to support the Foundation with a double-matching grant when your donation is doubled dollar for dollar. When you Godparent a FAAN Shelter Dog and help pay for their care, (Food, Flea Medication, Medical treatments) you will receive a picture of your Fundacion FAAN dog, and our volunteers will keep you posted on your dog’s well-being and adoption. You can even meet and play with your pup at the shelter on our next visit to Tarqui. Barry and I have decided to Godparent, Judy!

Here’s a quick link to Become a FAAN God-Parent through a monthly or one-time donation: Be sure to write us to let us know you want to pick your pup for Godparenting and we will send you some puppy profiles to pick from

Paws With Hope Dog Rescue, needs your help!

Dear Cuenca Friends,

For over 6 years Paws with Hope of Cuenca has rescued over 60 dogs and a good number of cats. Luckily most of these rescues have found forever homes or lived out their days at Paws with Hope. Paws with Hope is currently home to 10 dogs and 1 cat. Many of these current fur members have been at Paws with Hope for a very long time and have not been adopted.

Paws with Hope is a one-woman team, she is also a single mother to 2 toddler boys. Due to not having enough financial and emotional support for her and her kids here, she is leaving the country, and the remaining animals have no place to go.

She is committed to them and found a property that will allow the rescues to come too! Unfortunately getting all the animals across the border comes at a hefty cost. Each animal will cost about $428. This includes their transportation and vetting. They are being transported by Nestor, who is well known in the Cuenca community. Any help is very much appreciated. She has set up a GoFundMe page, hoping to get help and support for the move. Here is the link:

She is docile with other animals and children, friendly, playful. She is small in size (12 kgs), walks on a leash, is spayed and vaccinated. If you want to give it a try contact me.

I currently have 4 more dogs to foster home waiting to be adopted, if you want to know about them you can also contact me

Believe…in Hope

FAAN (Fundacion Familia Amor Animal recently rescued a mother who was abandoned near death in the countryside with a litter of eight puppies. We have given this Mama the name of “Hope” and are committed to doing everything we can to find a home for Hope and each one of her babies.

These beautiful puppies will be ready for adoption in about 10 days.
Reach out to us at FAAN for your Adoption Application and Interview.
At FAAN we have great hope for their adoption.

Dog Godparenting:
If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider becoming a Godparent to one of the dogs of FAAN with your financial support for a particular dog’s care and welfare. Our volunteers will match you with one of our shelter dogs and keep you posted on their health and adoption. You can even visit them at the shelter.

Believe

When Walt Disney was first building Disney, he instructed the construction team to “Build the castle first”. Walt believed people including the workers and the public needed to see the dream destination to create the magic.

At FAAN we are embracing Walt’s philosophy. The dream a year and a half ago was to purchase the beautiful land in Tarqui to build the first, modern animal shelter in Ecuador and indeed, South America. Thanks to your generosity, we succeeded and can see and believe in that dream.

While we carry on with the daily work of adoption, education, and prevention, purely on donations and volunteers, we are asking you to believe in the Foundation once again. Believe that by the end of the year, we will have raised the needed funds to build this shelter and sanctuary and move the dogs of FAAN, awaiting their forever home.

FAAN is seeking education advocates

Help FAAN make Cuenca The City that Cares about animal welfare. FAAN’s education program is working to change the hearts and minds of Cuenca’s newest generation.

The great news is that, thanks to everyone’s amazing help and donations, FAAN is now set to begin building its modern dog shelter here in Cuenca! However, with the current importance of funneling our available funds for shelter construction, we need to develop a fund dedicated for FAAN’s Education Program to ensure a steady supply of educational materials.

Beginning with Cuenca’s youngest children, our bilingual Be Kind, Se Amable coloring book is aimed at nurturing care and compassion towards our pets. It’s used by our teaching teams in classrooms and at community events, and we also make it available to partner organizations, pet-friendly businesses, and to our FAAN Affiliated Veterinarians throughout Cuenca.

Our dogs are special. Find out why slide presentation is targeted for Middle elementary grades and provides follow-up activities that further engage and educate students. And our brand-new high school assembly program now completes FAAN’s Educational Program with student-teams’ production of creative problem-solving projects, actually making them part of the solution!

Princess Kiara for adoption

I found a dog in the streets a few weeks ago. She seems to be somebody’s dog, but nobody claimed it. I already sterilized it and gave it its vaccines.

Princesa Kiara is about 1 year old, she’s not aggressive; she doesn’t pee or poop inside the house. She’s medium-small size. She’s adorable but I can’t have her for much longer.

So, if you’re looking for a doggie that’s cheerful and lovable, this is the one for you.

Puppy in urgent need of adoption

Hello all,

I have been fostering this 6-month-old puppy for two months, and I unfortunately am not able to continue taking care of her. She was abandoned on the side of the highway 3 months ago, and has been looking for a forever family since then. She is genuinely an amazing pup – playful, gets along with all dogs (and humans!), loves a good cuddle, and is a great companion. I take her along on errands, out to lunch, on my runs, etc., and she is always calm and well behaved. She is also fine staying at home alone for several hours at a time. I had two puppies in the US before moving here, and she is much easier and more low maintenance than they were – she’s truly an angel!

Please, please, please, if you can provide her with a loving home, or know someone who can, reach out to me. She will be mid-sized, and the organization I work with will cover the cost for vaccines and sterilization.

Thank you!

Brando

Brando is a sweet little gentleman that really needs some TLC from a very special person or family. He was rescued from sector Totoracocha and we suspect he’s been on his own for a while. The vet estimates his age at about 8 years old. He weighs about 20 pounds but should probably weigh around 30. He has been neutered, wormed, vaccinated and given flea meds.

Brando is pretty good on a leash and he enjoys short walks. He is super chill with other doggies and we’re not sure about cats.

He does have a very calm demeanor. He’s sweet, gentle, quiet, charming and docile. He catches up on some Zzzzs in his current foster home so he can become strong and healthy. Brando will need to continue his healthy diet and prescribed meds and some follow up appointments with the vet according to the treatment plan.

He had only one accident in the house after his neuter, so he may need a little house-training observation and reinforcement.

Just look at Brando’s adorable face that is so innocent and eager for love and attention. Would you consider opening your heart to this deserving baby?

Chocolate

Sweet Chocolate has had a rough start in life. At 3 months she contracted oral papillomas (warts) on her lips, palate and tongue. She went through several months of treatment and surgeries and just look at her now! She is 100% recovered and ready to find her forever family.

She is a female, just over 1 year old, spayed, vaccinated wormed and received flea meds. She is full grown at about 30 pounds, a medium-small and manageable size. She is active, cheerful and delightful. She is very good with other dogs, cats and children.

She has had some exposure to walking with a harness and she may need a little reinforcement with house training.

Abandoned puppies need a home!

My friend found 4 pups on the side of the road, in really bad shape. We are caring for two of them, and she has the other two (3 boys, 1 girl). Three of them are approx. 4 months old, and the third boy is older, probably 8-10 months. They’ve gotten the basic medical care and are playful and ready for homes (with your promise to spay/neuter when they’re older).

We need to find homes for them ASAP! We both have dogs already, and my landlord won’t let us keep any more. Please help us by adopting one (or two!). They are desperate for affection.

This is Fira!

Fira was born in the countryside of Cuenca. In her early days she and her mother were given temporary refuge in a house but the people soon got two large dogs that attacked Fira. She was rescued from this unsafe situation by a wonderful animal rescuer and taken to her home where she is beginning to feel what human affection can be.

This sweet dog is 8 months old and has had all her shots. She is healthy and spayed. Fira gets along well with other dogs. Although she is still shy around new people she continues to make progress in this area.

Urgent, need a good home

10 month old female (spayed) rescue dog. Great personality. Gets along well with other dogs and with children. She is a fairly large dog with a lot of energy.

My land lady thinks she’s one dog too many. I have three others and 2 cats. I have had her since she was a puppy. She will be a great family pet. I can email photos.

Handsome Fernando for adoption

Fernando is safe in Cuenca now and waiting for his forever family. He looks like a Lab mix but smaller. He is about two years old and has been sterilized, vaccinated, wormed and received flea meds. He weighs about 13-15 kilos and is a very manageable medium size. He is house trained. He has a nice balance of being relaxed and calm indoors and playful when outdoors with other doggies. He walks well on a leash and seems to be good with young children and dogs. He doesn’t like cats. He is calm, protective, and he is a good guardian.

Fernando was rescued from a dire situation at the market in Azogues. There was a mentally-affected man that continued to torture Fernando with a knife. He even threatened to kill Fernando! We organized a small team to help with transportation to Dr. Gallardo’s Clinica in Cuenca. There, Fernando received all the care and treatment he needed. Fernando has been recovering very well in a loving and safe foster home and now he is ready for his own home and family!
