“Jaguar Dreams” thanks you!

A big thanks and an “abrazo” to everyone who received a free copy of “Jaguar Dreams,” my first work of fiction about the struggle of Ecuador’s Indigenous nations against the oil industry here. I hope you enjoy it. A sequel is in the works! If you find “Jaguar Dreams” compelling, please consider leaving a “customer review” on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3UaXCXO

Each review helps drive awareness of the book, my intention being to inform as many people as possible about the devastation in Ecuador to the Amazon Basin and the people and wildlife trying to survive there.

Again, thank you!

Gratitude for your recognition of my blog

I am humbled to be the blogger of the year for Cuenca. Gracias. Merci beaucoup. Thank you to everyone who thinks “Becoming Cuenca” is an excellent source of information about moving to and living in this great city.

My blog is geared towards people born 1946 to 1964. The Boomers are a unique and pioneering generation, breaking new ground. Now, this generation is doing something that previous ones have never done en masse: Live out their lives outside the US and Canada.

Hopefully you will have an opportunity to take a look at this blog that has hundreds of my photos in it as well as reliable information about living at three degrees south.

A lucky runner in New Year’s Day

Happy New Year to all of you. I just want to share my wonderful experience, I had on New Year’s Day.

I’m a long distance runner. I wrote an ad on GringoPost looking for a friend to run on January 1st. That’s how everything started. On Monday, 1st, I met Andy at Clinica España (concentration point). She’s just a young lady, very polite and friendly. That’s how we started our run on New Year’s Day.

It was 6am, when we start our 30km race, from Cuenca to Azogues. We had plenty of time to get to know each other, while we were running.
On the half of the race, we were quite tired, Andy had to walk a little bit; I didn’t leave her alone, until she asked me to. So, I took off, and she was happy for me. It was our last 10km before we crossed the finish line.
We both were very happy for each other!

Thank you Andy, for such a great experience, and for your company. I will see you soon, in the roads/trails.
