ATM limits and fees?

Hello all. Now that it appears that Banco del Austro will be permanently limiting their per transaction withdrawal to $100, I am looking for information on which bank’s ATMs allow the highest per transaction withdrawals and also what the fees are.

My US bank does not reimburse any ATM fees that might be charged here and they also charge me a $3 fee for every ATM withdrawal beyond 3 per month, so you can see how using an ATM that will only dispense $100 at a time is not feasible.

Any info about withdrawal limits and fees at various ATMs would be welcome. Thanks for your help.

Try this angle: I have a PenFed credit card. I put cash in the account to cover the amount I need, for example $300. Then I go to the ATM at Banco del Austro on Mariscal Sucre or Banco Internacional on Presidente Borrero and I make a credit card withdrawal... Read more 0 0

There is a nasty tax on money going out of Ecuador. If your positive you will be in Ecuador forever not a problem. But I like having other options. Many RE deals are done outside of Ecuador because of these capital controls. 0 0

I was making an assumption based on anecdotal evidence and hearsay. Sorry...I didn't read anywhere that it was permanent, Sorry for that, but the main point of my post wasn't really the recent problems at Austro ATMs but more a request for information about other bank's ATMs limits and fees. 0 0

Thank you for that information. I also bank with Wells Fargo in the U.S. and have an account here with Banco Bolivariano, but am not aware if they have a working agreement between them. I will check, as that is a viable option. 0 0

Another very nice perk from Capital 1 360 Checking is that for direct deposit, they give me CREDIT for my SSA check and another Pension check which goes into my account 2 DAYS EARLY from the actual scheduled deposit day and for immediate use! 0 0

Just got off the phone with Capital 1-360 & THEY do not charge you BUT, yes, the foreign bank can charge you a fee which they DO NOT COVER! 0 0

We take our US Debit card into the teller in one of the larger Banco de Guayaquil offices and can withdraw up to $1000 at a time--no charge. 0 0

I, and several other people I know, have only been able to withdraw $100 per transaction at Banco del Austro for a few weeks now. I have tried $200 and $300 and ALWAYS get the message (from various Austro ATMs around town) that I have reached the maximum amount allowable... 0 0

I should add that I do not have an account at Banco del Austro. I am referring to using their ATMs to withdraw money from my U.S. bank. You may have a different experience if you actually have an account at Banco del Austro. 0 0

Again, Schwab does NOT reimburse the fees charged by Pichincha. See my post above. I have had this conversation with Schwab Bank. Until recently, the answer for me was to use Banco del Austro. Kimberly, I am sorry, but the word is "moot," not mute. 0 0

As of the last time I withdrew money from an Austro ATM, the .35 cent fee was only if you wanted a receipt. You had the option to decline a receipt and not be charged. But that was 3 or 4 weeks ago. 0 0
