On May 26, a presentation about quality and availability of medical and home health care services and support took center stage at the monthly Newcomers Luncheon in Cuenca. The featured speakers were Dra. Maite Depreeuw and her partner in practice, Dra. Ana Cecilia Carvallo. The focus of their presentation was the work-in-progress organization, Cuenca Care Project (CCP), that will provide what is essentially a one stop point of contact to the necessary medical, physical and lifestyle needs which could include shopping, in home companionship and care, or personalized assistance for you or a family member in your own home. Cuenca Care Project is a resource to remember whether your need to find a specific medical professional or assistance in finding a living situation where more help and support can be provided. The CCP will be able to provide answers, referrals and the necessary services throughout all stages of aging. The goal of the service is to collect information about practitioners and services, from home health aides to finding a doctor or psychologist, community living facilities or a care facility for those in need of more intense and constant care.
The audience at this event, both newcomers and expats who have lived in Cuenca for quite a while were interested and supportive of the project Dra. Depreeuw and Dra. Carvallo presented. Understanding the needs in the community, helping solve a problem, facilitating access to services make using this easily accessed resource an enormous comfort and relief. Cuenca Care Project is the answer to your healthcare and lifestyle needs. The questions from the audience were lively and there simply was not enough time to get to all of them.
