Does anyone know of an English speaking rep at Banco Pichincha? I’d like to open an account and don’t feel confident enough with my Spanish to do this. Thanks.

Their BUSINESS (not personal) bankers speak English. At least they do in Guayaquil. The personal account people are all Spanish only...at almost every bank. Banco Guayaquil's main downtown branch has English speaking bankers. JEP does NOT. Cuenca is a different world and I don't know enough to weigh in about... Cuenca is a different world and I don't know enough to weigh in about anything outside of GYE. But, I've now opened several accounts at 4 different banks and only thei Business People at Banco Guayaquil and Pinchincha had one person who was english speaking. The communication isn't really that hard when it comes to opening the account. It's mostly time and proper Ecuadorian paperwork. You need your RUC or Cedula. You need copies of your recent light and water bills. Copies of your rental agreements or purchase agreements of real estate. The more you can prove who you are, the better. They'll usually give you a list of everything you need. I recommend you go visit first and ask for a list of what you need prior to going and opening an account. Also, Mondays' and Friday's are really bad. The lines are really long on those days. I've found that Thursday afternoons or early mornings are great times to go and get accounts open at the banks.Read more00

Go into the branch on Solano and let them know you want to open account and need an English speaker. The person standing by the door usually speaks enough English that they can get you to the right person. We just did it last week. You need a receipt from a utility that you pay and a copy of your income (SS, annuity, etc.). The employee that helped us was very courteous and her English was very good but not perfect. I’m sorry I don’t remember her name.Read more00
