Hola, I’m a poet/lyricist of enormous ambition seeking musicians to transmute my words into classic songs. As just one index of my talent, a poem of mine won $500 in an international Writers Digest contest.
I currently write lyrics in English, but based on my dedicated studies, I foresee potential lyrics in Spanish and French; who knows, possibly Portuguese, since I love Brazilian music.
Here’s a sample (English) lyric, to spark your interest:
I Could Make Love to the Moon Right Now
(For Virginia Cody, 1955-2019)
In some intermezzo
Kind gods put between
A wife I loved
And what hell may come,
I lounge on my townhouse patio,
Slowly sipping my rum.
The time, so it seems,
Is a young day in June,
And the evening,
Through half-interrupting trees,
Has had the great kindness
To spoon me the moon.
I’m near as turned on as small glimpses allow:
Yes, I could make love to the moon right now.
This lunar strip-tease
Makes me reminisce.
It’s altered my mood
But will never change this:
My wife remains dwelling
Where no lovers kiss.
My heart’s throb just seems reawakened somehow:
Yes, I could make love to the moon right now.
Eagerly awaiting your response,
Patrick Walker
