Transvia

Good morning! I am in Cuenca for a month, finalizing details to move here permanently. I’m still getting used to the different processes, and the next thing on my to-do list is to learn how to use the Tranvia system. Can anyone share with me the details… like, do you pay when you get on, or do you need to purchase a ticket first somewhere. If you need a ticket, where do you buy it? And any anything else I don’t know what to ask.

On a side note, I want to say thank you to whomever created this website… it’s really very helpful, informative, and provides an opportunity to meet new people, which is so important when you uproot and move to a totally different environment than you’re used to. And to those of you who take the time to respond… also big thanks!

You just go to Etapa if You have a Ecuadorian Cédula IC . Or yo any Offices where they provide this card and then jus scan in tge machín es that are on each stop of tge tranvía for only 0,35 cents and the other option is to buy a... Read more 0 0

You can go to Etapa on the corner of Tarqui and Grand Columbia to get the card at either window # 7 or 8, there's a sign on the window telling you which one is for Tranvia. 0 0

FWIW, I was there this week and they were out of cards. They said to come back next week. It was Kiosko 7. Alternatively, when you are in the Etapa office, Kiosko 8 is the Movilizate (bus) card window. $1.75 for the card itself; load it up with $5 -... 0 0

I might add that you must refill your tranvia card at any station. You can change the language to English if that makes it easier. You have to place your card on the card reader, and the instructions are a little confusing, but it works. And the fare covers you... Read more 0 0
