I’m in the process of getting my visa. My question is: does getting an “inversionista” visa have any advantages over a “jubilado” visa in relation to getting the state insurance? I’ve received conflicting information and would really appreciate some accurate information.
Thank you,
Sanders

It does make a difference in terms of your monthly IESS premium payments, since you have to declare your monthly income to IESS based on your visa, and then pay 17.6% of this as a monthly premium. Since a pensioner's visa currently requires a monthly income of $1,275, and an investor's visa only requires $425 per month (in addition to the $42,500 investment), then your monthly IESS premium would be quite a bit less on an investment visa - that is $74.80 vs $224.40. Dependents can be added for an additional 3.41% of your declared monthly income. Of course visa requirements are constantly in a state of flux so always check the latest requirements with an attorney or facilitator...here is the link to the IESS page:

There is a "Catch-22" here. To qualify for government IESS health insurance, you must have a cedula. To get a cedula, you must have health insurance. Some expats will get private insurance, then get the cedula, immediately drop the private insurance, and go on IESS. 00

A majority of one particular answer does not make it correct. I'm guessing since you said you're in the process, you already have engaged the services of a facilitator or attorney? They should be able to provide a qualified answer. 00
Facts
If you have a Cedula you can join IESS.
That's the only requirement. 00

This is the last place to get accurate information, but have lived here for 9 years and I can tell that, it makes no difference which visa you get. By the way, there is no state insurance. I assume you are speaking about the government IESS health insurance. 00

"This is the last place to get accurate information"
Translation = I don't know the answer to your question. 00
