I’m considering a trip to Cuenca in late July or August and interested in current indoor lap swimming opportunities. Are swimming venues such as Piscina Olimpica currently open? I would appreciate any current recommendations on indoor pools for lap swimming in Cuenca. Thanks,
Jason

Be very careful around the Coliseo Jefferson Perez neighborhood. An ex-pat said that he was mugged there recently. 00

it is no worse than anywhere else in the city, I live nearby, it is fine, 00

Last I checked, the Piscina Olímpica is only open to college and professional athletes at this point. 00

To piggy-back off the pool question, anyone know of any saunas in Cuenca? 00

IF it's open, the U. Cuenca pool had a good sauna and was open to the public pre-Covid. 00

Novaqua Spa in Baños has both steam and dry saunas. 00

Hermanos Enderico a block off 24 de mayo between IESS hospital and Hospital del Rio is an excellent pool but expect to pay U. S. prices. 00

Coliseo Jefferson Perez has 50 m pool for training. Tired but good facility. Check for availability re covid and heating issues.
U Cuenca. 25 m pool. Lap lanes not well controlled in my experience. Too warm. Great sauna, steam facilities.

Hosteria Duran has two pools. They are outside, but then again they are thermal pools so they are warm. There are families and children sharing it but that depends on time of day, and the children have a pool of their own. You can get a pass to swim there... Hosteria Duran has two pools. You can get a pass to swim there for the day. Maybe it is more for people who want to float around under the trees, though.Read more00
