Sonic Journey Workshop Series with High Modo
Experiencia Sonora Carousel

This three-part workshop series offers an artistic and sensory journey into the space where sound becomes a bridge — connecting body, emotion, creativity, and the surrounding environment. Each session invites participants to discover new ways of listening, creating, and inhabiting sound through accessible tools and guided practices.

Led by High Modo, a local music producer and DJ, the series encourages intuitive creation, deep listening, and connection — with oneself, with others, and with place.

Designed for all levels of musical experience, the workshops are bilingual (Spanish / English) and take place at idiomARTE, Cuenca’s creative and intercultural hub in the historic city center.

Participants may join individual workshops or attend the full three-session series.

Individual workshops are $15 each, or $40 for the complete series. Please email us to register and for more information.

• * Details of Each Workshop **

(1) Sound Journey + Collaborative Dance | January 24 . 4:30 PM

An immersive experience that begins with a guided meditation accompanied by live sound, gradually unfolding into a collective, free dance session, followed by reflection and dialogue. Guided by Camila Toledo and High Modo as DJ.

(2) Sound Play: Music from Ordinary Things | February 7 . 4:30 PM

Participants explore rhythm and sound, transforming everyday objects — and even their own bodies — into instruments. The session culminates into a collective sound symphony which will be recorded as a group.

(3) Cuenca Soundscapes | April 4 . 3:30 PM

This session begins with a guided sound walk through the city where you will explore and record what you hear, from urban to natural sounds. capturing urban and natural textures. Back at idiomARTE, the recordings are used to compose a group soundscape – an auditory portrait of Cuenca.

A Song for Venezuela | Son Autana
Jan
22
6 SonAutana ENG

Thursday, January 22

Cover: $6 | Music 7 PM | Doors open at 5 PM

Mariangel and Hector—two extraordinary Venezuelan musicians—invite us into an intimate, soul-stirring tribute to their homeland. Through music, they tell stories of resilience, memory, joy, and hope.

Venezuela’s story is complex: marked by struggle, displacement, and an unbreakable spirit. To better understand both the flight and the fight of its people, we are honored to host these exceptional Venezuelan nationals, who will sing from the heart and showcase the vibrancy of their culture—the warmth of its people, the depth of its traditions, and the beauty that endures.

In moments like these, listening becomes an act of humanity.

Join us for a very special dinner concert where music, food, conversation, and shared experience come together around the table.

Come for the flavors.

Stay for the stories weaved in the music.

Leave more connected than when you arrived.

We are located at Mariscal Lamar 21-71.

Cost: $6
