Promoting Star Singer is my job. I’m Jerry Price. Sometimes we’re lucky to receive the fine attention of music lovers by reporting anecdotes based on stuff that happened to Star Singer while on his journey – – – – to world dominance. Sometimes we make a friend who reads these remembrances who shows up to hear a Star Singer Cuenca live performance!
Sitting around at Yakumama Bistro with beers, Star Singer laughed it up and told me of the true story of when he met a prominent Hollywood movie screenwriter at a bar called, The Dume Room located on the beach of Malibu, California. Perhaps, you dear reader, will enjoy this. An infamous writer who used to write jokes for TV’s Johnny Carson was sitting on a bar stool next to Star Singer. The writer says: “Yeah! I wrote part of Rain Man with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise”. Star Singer quips, “That’s very impressive.” The 2 fellows got to know each other and had become good friends. The writer told Star Singer of when he and his wife picked up the playwright, Tennessee Williams, who was hitchhiking along the roadways of Key West, Florida. Tennessee Williams is the author of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, “The Glass Menagerie”, and “Street Car Named Desire”. They dropped Mister Williams at his house, he gave his trusty portable typewriter, the one he typed on to produce the most popular plays in the world, to Star Singer’s new friend. Star Singer and his friend put the typewriter up for auction to raise money. They got ripped off! These days, Star Singer says: “If you knew the whole story about that auction sale, you’d agree I’m lucky not to actually owe the auctioneer money!”
