What to do with a “bad” $5 bill?

My wife and I recently recieved change back from a resturaunt that included a $5 bill that was taped together. We didn’t notice it at the time, as there was also another $5 bill and some coin. Since we realized we had it, we’ve been trying to use it and so far no location we’ve found will accept it.

Are we out of luck? Can we exchange it at a bank? Or are we just out $5 and have learned a lesson?

They will. I go there once every month to get a bunch of new $5.00 bills from $20s from the ATM. They close at 3:30 pm. 1 0
