Banking ATMs

New tricks but no treats at Banco del Austro ATMs…

Tried two different locations and no money using the bank debit card I have used here for years. Called my bank and they said there was no problem on their end. What’s the deal?

What system is your debit card using? Mine is VISA, and it works only at ATMs using the VISA system. Fees are charged by the bank, which can vary from bank to bank. In other words, the banks where the ATM is located pay the VISA fees, not the cardholder.... Read more 0 0

I've been having this problem with Banco Guayaquil ( I prefer to use them because their fee is only 1.50 per transaction, whereas JEP, Austro & Pichincha are way worse - $4-$5 each) but lately (past few months) every transaction has declined, just saying that they can't process the transaction... Same bank or banks that use the same network? Every once and a while a bank and even occasionally a CC network go down. Try different ones. 0 0

For what it's worth, when I pursued this line of action at Austro, they merely shrug and tell me it's my US bank's fault. When the US bank does their investigation and confirm it's down here, they, once again, shrug (and smile), credit my account, and the system works once... 0 0
