I read on a forum that there are meetups on Fridays at 6 at both Zoe’s and Eucalyptus. We went looking and found neither of these places. What’s up with that?

On what forum did you read that? 00

Hi Terry Zoe´s and Eucalyptus have been shut down for quite some time as far as I know. Maybe You could try Common Grounds , Inca or Sunrise Café for " Gringo" gatherings if you wish. 00
John
"Sunrise Café for " Gringo" gatherings if you wish."
A more accurate description would be "gringo vendors" hangout. 00
Ryan James
Eucalyptus went out of business years ago. You should either read GringoPost for current info or join Facebook groups for Cuenca. 00

Join us on Thursday afternoon this week for our planning meeting with the City and our Keep Cuenca Beautiful group.
You can find us at 2 PM at the "Salón de la Ciudad" in the City Hall Building across from Parque Calderón, on Calle Sucre. You can find our KCB group on Facebook and make some friends there, also.
It is our first planning meeting since COVID and you would find the attendees to be a concerned group of mostly gringos, although we are making a concerted effort to broaden our membership.Read more00

hillarious, 00

I'm not part of the group, but note at least one one of their number is Ecuadorian. Perhaps you can join (if you haven't done so already), and bring some of that demographic with you. 00
John Thompson
Have dinner at Joe's Secret Garden on Saturday night. 00
John
Half of the "gringos" there are interested in the other half as "sales leads" to pounce on. 00
John
If you want to hang out with "gringos" what are you doing in Ecuador? 00
Cabinet-guy
Look at you, reading GRINGO Post...Lol 00
John
Yeah, but I've never set foot in the Sunrise Cafe or Joe's Secret Garden or any other "gringo" hangout. So there's that. :) 00
Cabinet-guy
We don't know that, do we? We DO know, however, that you frequent these pages, oh self-righteous one. 00

Cmon John ! Cut him some slack Everyone has their own reasons for travelling abroad . 00
Patricia Daugherty
Thank goodness we each get to choose the people we want to hang out with. Spending time with gringos doesn't mean I don't enjoy the company of Ecuadorians. 00
John
The misconception among "newbies" is that speaking the same language and/or coming from the same foreign country is grounds for instant friendship. Good luck with that. The reality is that the same people you wanted nothing to do with where you came from also live in Ecuador. 00

The irony 00
Terrydarc
You don't think speaking a common language has much to do with friendship, John? Shared experience is the basis of friendship and being friends with gringos does not prevent friendship with Ecuadoreans. 00
Brett
Very true, though of course new hangouts for tourists have replaced the ones that went out of business, such as now expats are frequently found at "Kolo Restaurant" shown here: https://www.facebook.com/Kolo-Restaurant-and-Bakery-103331078504416/ 00

just victims of the pandemic. so many businesses closed 00

Zoe and Eucalyptus both went out of business years ago, long before this creeping crud ever reached Ecuador's shores. 00
Alexa
None of these bars exist anymore, this used to be many many years ago. Keep tuned for new places, please!! 00
Linda
I don’t think either of those places exist any longer. 00
