Best bank in Cuenca?

Good morning expats. Planning to retire next year around this time and would like to know which bank here in the States do you use to receive your social security check and withdraw money in Cuenca other than Charles Schwab? Thank you in advance for your advice.

If you want your SS payments sent to a US bank instead of directly to one down here, then Wells Fargo is a good choice. Check out their ExpressSend© service on the website. Their transfer fees are reasonable and there are two or three choices on which banks down here... Read more 0 0

A federal credit union is where all my deposits are made. I withdraw here from any ATM. Works great and the credit union refunds all international ATM fees, <i><b>except</b></i> Pichincha' s enormous $4.48 withdrawal fee. 0 0

There are no Ecuadorian banks that receive US social security checks. Most banks have ATMs that work with US cards 0 0

Jan, you are misinformed. Banco Guayaquil and Produbanco (spelling?) are the 2 banks in Ecuador that the U.S government does business with (i.e. deposit of Social Security Retirement Benefits). Been receiving my ss deposits in Banco Guayaquil for nearly 8 years and never a problem. Hope this helps. 0 0

That is not true. We get our SS check through Banco Guayaquil. It was a hassle setting it up, but it works fine. 0 0
