Food should excite, inspire and warm, and we desperately need that especially now. We are happy to say that we were all three of the aforementioned after eating our takeout feast from Ta’Lico.
A wonderful review of the place got us curious, especially the mention of an eggplant dish for Barbara. I am a sucker for Chinese heat so I ordered Kung Pow Chicken, when it’s made well it’s heavenly. So we ordered Kung Pow Chicken, Fish infused eggplant and Egg with shrimp and asparagus. For us great leftover Chinese food can be pure joy for a no fuss Sunday brunch.
So here are our thoughts. The portions are quite generous. We each ate 4 meals from our order, supplemented of course with our own rice. The seasoning was perfection, providing layers of flavor. Waves of tastes from the savoriness of umami, to respectable levels of heat, hints of background vinegar that woke our taste buds and great textures combined to make our tongues quite happy. It was a perfect feast for us and a pleasant surprise.
We have several ‘Go To’ restaurants that deliver and never, ever disappoint. Primary among them is Pig and Cow, for BBQ and smoked meat sandwiches, Chef Narcissa has delicious lunches, those Po Boy sandwiches are 5 star. Los Carnales is our favorite for mouth-watering tacos. Eddie, at Origami makes fresh, amazingly flavorful sushi. The list goes on.
Ta’Lico is right up there with these other fine Cuenca restaurants and we are happy to add them to our speed dial. Because for us life with great Chinese we can order, is so much better.
