2. Cultura Viva: For intermediate and advanced learners, this program combines language learning with Ecuadorian and Latin American culture. Through art, local traditions, guest speakers, and immersive activities, you’ll expand your vocabulary and skills in context, gaining a deeper understanding of the vibrant culture around you.

3. Focused Workshops: Short, 4-day sessions tackle tricky grammar points and refine specific skills. Ideal for learners who want targeted practice without committing to a full course, these workshops offer hands-on, practical ways to make meaningful progress.

Hi all,

From time to time, I receive questions about how the dependent visa works…

So, here are some explanations.

After the main visa holder receives his/her visa, of any category: retirement, investor, professional, nomad, remote worker, in all the cases, the temporary visa, no need to show an extra income for husband/wife or minor children, the extra $250 per dependent is needed only for son(s)/daughter(s) above the legal age, in Ecuador the legal age is 18 years old.

Now, when the main visa holder of a temporary visa, receives the permanent visa, then, he/she has to prove $250 per dependant, wife/husband, kids.

Extra information:
A temporary dependent visa can be requested only for wife/husband and kids.

The permanent visa can be requested to relatives into the second degree of consanguinity or the second degree of affinity: sister/brother in law, niece, nephew.

We’ve given our beloved Storytelling Open Mic a bold new identity — meet StoryJAM!

StoryJAM is your chance to tell it like it is (or like it could be). Stories, songs that tell stories (no concerts, sorry folks!), and poetry are all welcome.

Each edition features:
4 invited storytellers — 2 in Spanish, 2 in English
4 open mic spots — sign up at the door

This makes every StoryJAM dynamic, spontaneous, and full of surprises.*

Every month has a different theme — and you help us choose the next one! Plus, someone lucky will walk away with a mystery prize (because who doesn’t love surprises?).

This month’s theme: Creepy Stories
Got a tale that still gives you goosebumps? A fear that never quite left you? A story that’s too spooky to tell in the dark? We want to hear it! Fun tip: Keeping the Halloween spirit alive, costumes are welcome — the spookier, the better!

StoryJAM is proudly bilingual — not just half English and half Spanish, but a creative experiment in connection. We’re testing out different ways to make sure everyone can follow along and enjoy the stories, whether they speak one language or both. From summaries and translations to interactive moments and audience participation, we’re exploring what works best to keep the magic alive for everyone. Your feedback will help us find that sweet spot — because language doesn’t have to be a barrier, but an invitation to explore.
