On occasional weekends, the owner of Rancho Patococha, Santiago, and his family, open the ranch for a small group to come and enjoy a great day horseback riding in the picturesque countryside high up in the Andes.
Their ranch is home to lots of horses, many that are specifically trained as polo horses. You may be lucky to see them in training.
To make this trip, you will be picked up at a central location 8:30 AM for an hour’s drive to Rancho Patococha, also a working dairy farm. (On the way there is a family business that we can stop at to see a fabulous range of homemade cheeses, cheese cakes, etc.)
We match your horse to your riding ability and our experienced riders accompany you on your ride…. from the beginner to more advanced, everyone is welcome on these weekends. Before and after your ride you can relax with coffee, tea and refreshments on the deck of this lovely ranch style home filled with memorabilia the family have collected over the years.
And don’t forget to see the incredible tack room before Pata closes it after the ride. Here there are saddles and bridles from all over the world, Peru, Argentina, Chile, USA, England etc. and includes all the gear that’s used for the game of polo which is very popular in this region. (We recommend boots and suitable riding attire. Wet gear is supplied. (And it can get cold up there, so wear a jacket.)
Including all refreshments, horseback ride approx. 2 hours costs: $50
Pick-up locations: Parque de la Madre, SuperMaxi carpark Las Americas, anywhere along the route to the Ranch (Las Americas to Tarqui)
