In La Guaira, Venezuela, mothers and babies are living in tents and temporary shelters, facing intense heat, limited electricity, and no refrigeration for food or medicine.
Through Healthy Beginnings, Fundación GRACE is delivering hygiene kits, prenatal vitamins, and carefully selected shelf-stable foods—items that can remain safe without refrigeration and help mothers care for themselves and their babies in these conditions.
In Cuenca, Ecuador, our Healthy Beginnings mothers can also receive fresh fruits, vegetables, and other perishable, nutritious foods. But in Venezuela, the situation is much more complicated. Without reliable electricity, refrigerators, or safe storage, food can spoil quickly in the heat. That is why our team is adapting every food package to meet the realities families are facing on the ground.
We are also grateful to introduce Leonardo Gael, one of the beautiful babies from our very first Healthy Beginnings cohort in Cuenca. Because of the generosity of people like you, we have been blessed to see healthy babies grow and families feel more supported, cared for, and hopeful.
We are especially proud to share that Fundación GRACE Venezuela is now officially a reality. For a long time, we have worked in Venezuela through trusted local partners. Now, our own team on the ground is so grateful and excited to be able to serve families directly.
We know we will continue facing difficult situations in Venezuela, while also caring for vulnerable mothers, babies, and families here in Ecuador. Next week, we will welcome 20 new mothers of different nationalities into a new Healthy Beginnings cohort in Cuenca.
