The following has been reported…
Sale of anti-inflammatories limited due to dengue alert.
ARCSA carried out 3,800 inspections in pharmacies to avoid self-medication, while the MSP urges to eliminate breeding sites and go to the doctor at the first symptoms.
In view of the increase in dengue infections nationwide, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) ordered the immediate restriction of the free sale of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including ibuprofen, naproxen and diclofenac, in all pharmaceutical establishments in the country.
The measure seeks to prevent the population from self-medicating, since these drugs alter blood clotting mechanisms, temporarily hide warning signs, and critically increase the risk of fatal bleeding.
