Mother Cabrini – A church for those hurt by religion in the past

Mother Cabrini Mission is a newly organized church in Cuenca where all of God’s children are made to feel welcome. By design, we are a church created for those who have been hurt by religion in the past, people who may be divorced, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their straight allies, feminists, the blind, the deaf, the disabled, HIV+, immigrants, the poor, the homeless, individuals with alcohol and drug addictions, those who have overcome those addictions and people who are non-believers may all come together to learn, love, seek and be touched by an all-loving community.

We chose the name Mother Cabrini, in honor of Frances Xavier Cabrini, an Italian/American sister who was the first American Saint. She is often called the Patron Saint of Immigrants. Given most of our members and attendees are immigrants from North America, Europe and Asia, the name Mother Cabrini appeared to be an appropriate choice.

The members of Mother Cabrini and I would like to invite you to join us this Sunday, September 13th at 11 AM. we are located in a former home at General Torres 15-88 and Alberto Munoz Vernaza in Cuenca’s Bellavista neighborhood of El Centro, five blocks North of the Tranvia line.

Karen - my mistake. It is 11:00 am. At 11:00 pm I would suspect most of us would be asleep. Although I have been known to sleep through church in the past, I haven’t since going to a mother Cabrini. 1 0
