GoFundMe for Yurak Allpa Animal Refuge – Cuenca, Ecuador

The animals at the Yurak Allpa Refuge and the people who care for them need our help!

Yurak Allpa is an animal sanctuary founded by Alberto Vele in 2002 on the outskirts of Cuenca, Ecuador. Its goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and when possible, release back into their natural habitats the animals who come into its care.

Currently, more than 300 animals of 60 different species—including monkeys, birds of prey, tapirs, penguins, ocelots, parrots, alpacas, ostriches, water buffalo, and farm animals—call the refuge home.

Although about half of the animals were brought to the sanctuary after being seized by environmental police and government agencies, Yurak Allpa receives no government assistance and is funded exclusively by admission fees and donations from individuals. Unfortunately, these sources of income, while very much appreciated, are often unpredictable and occasional.

The goal of this fundraiser is to acquire funds for a planned expansion of the animals’ enclosures and the construction of enrichment areas to provide the animal residents with a better quality of life.

The refuge also seeks donations to help with the ongoing costs of providing the animals with nutritious food and weekly veterinary care, as well as to purchase the equipment needed to establish a proper veterinary clinic.

Since we are not allowed to share the fundraiser link in this post, just go to GoFundMe website and search for “Yurak Allpa.” If you can’t find it, please send me an email and I will send you the link.

Thank you for your donation of any amount!
Please help us spread the word about this fundraiser.
