Storytelling is a time-honored tradition. Long before books, screens, or written language, people gathered to share experiences and make sense of the world together. Stories help us remember, process uncertainty, find humor in difficult moments, and recognize that no experience exists in isolation. At its core, storytelling is about connection.
StoryJAM is part of that ongoing tradition—a bilingual storytelling open mic that meets every second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m., where English and Spanish share the same space.
Each edition brings together invited storytellers and open mic slots, filled on the spot—so whether you arrive with a prepared story or simply come to listen, you’re part of the experience.
Each month also has a theme. This month, we’ll be exploring motherhood and mothers—through different perspectives, memories, and lived experiences.
Hosted by Barry Callen and Ximena Moscoso, StoryJAM is a relaxed space where stories are shared across languages through summaries, translation, and a healthy dose of Spanglish, so everyone can follow along and take part.
