We were skeptical with the Zoom classes offered, as we use Zoom to visit with friends and family in the States, and one of us has a hearing disability. But we took the plunge and registered for the entry level beginning classes about 4 weeks ago. We have class from 10:30-11:45 on Mondays and Thursdays each week, for 7 weeks per “module”. Currently there are 8 modules from beginner through advanced, each 7 weeks, with a 1-week break. Each module is $100.
After 8 classes, we both are amazed at our progress. Anna Luisa is one of the best teachers either of us has ever had, and we have both had a lot of very fine instruction through university and postgraduate studies in the US. She teaches by the “natural approach” of language instruction (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_approach) and it is perfect for adult learners.
There is no kinder person than Anna Luisa, as she gently instructs without leaving us feeling frustrated. The results are very evident as we are now able to have conversations with the kind Cuencanos at the mercado, restaurants, and tiendas (more than just pointing to the “fresas, por favor”)!
Each class reviews a story primer, pronunciation, and vocabulary, with Ecuador and Cuenca culture and current events. There is homework assigned for each class. Zoom education classes are actually working out quite nicely for us, as notes are taken and work done on a shared screen during class are sent via e-mail after class for review.
We cannot more highly recommend Anna Luisa for language instruction.
