A note to thank you for once again nominating Fundacion FAAN for the Best of GringoPost Awards.
These nominations belong to our extraordinary volunteers, including our President, José Gomez, who for 12 years has driven up the mountain every day—rain, shine, or holiday—to care for the more than 120 rescued and abandoned animals in our care. Totally as a volunteer. Volunteer Power is the Heart of our Foundation, and we invite you to join us!
Our volunteers work daily in rescue, prevention, education, adoption, and advocacy, and this work continues as we move forward to build a new, modern Superdogs Sanctuary rooted in compassion and dignity.
Special thanks this year to the Gala FAAN-TASTICA, Old Hollywood Volunteer Team, who worked for months and raised more than $31,000 in one glamorous, community night to jump-start our capital campaign for the construction of our new and modern sanctuary, and to our Amigos Secreto Team, who partnered with La Rapida in the collection of food, medicine, and supplies for the ongoing care of our very special dogs.
Thank you Gringo Post Friends, for believing in FAAN and in a kinder future for animals in Cuenca. Our dogs kind of think of these nominations as their Oscars, so they are pretty excited. If you would like to meet our Superdogs, the Foundation is planning a Minga at the current sanctuary on Saturday, January 31st (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) and invites you to meet our incredible pups firsthand. This is a must-attend event if you are considering the adoption of a new best friend. Details will be posted, but drop us a note to get on the list for the bus trip to Tarqui.
