Nicolas’ story is one of the sad ones. He is an orphan, all alone in the world – no place to call home, no family, no friends. With the coronavirus situation and lockdown, he struggled to survive, all alone and hungry. He has severe emotional problems, so did not join the other homeless youth near the river. He kept to himself, depressed and destitute. One day, he finally wanted to end his pain. But someone, something, somewhere, decided that it was not yet his time to go. And he was delivered into our care.
He will be with us until he gets back on his feet again. Our in-house psychologist will work with him and he will receive care from our volunteer doctor on Thursday. He has new clothes that were donated, warm meals, somewhere safe to recover, and caring people around him. Perhaps this is a new beginning for young Nicolas. We are here to help him reclaim his life, and give him hope again, in any way we possibly can.
If you would like to support our efforts in young men in need, like Nicolas, who find themselves needing a extra help, you can donate online at: http://www.hogaresperanza.org/en/donations/. If you prefer to make a donation through bank transfer, please contact us for the account information. We are also happy to schedule pick-ups of cash donations and in-kind donations of items. Thank you so much – we could not do any of this without you.
