your guide to better outcomes
Based on the actual experiences of and written by Miriam Drake, M.Ed., L.M.H.C., N.C.C., C.H.t.
As a result of the extreme situation I found myself in, alone caring for a very sick husband in a foreign healthcare system with minimal language skills, I wrote the original edition of this book and offered seminars for expats living in my town in Ecuador. Over the years, many lives have been saved. As I shared my information with others, numerous individuals began encouraging me to create an international edition for expats living in developing countries elsewhere in the world. What has surprised me though is the request by North Americans to create a version for them.
This edition is my attempt to bridge the gap and create a book for use in both developed and developing countries. I call it “Healthcare Planning for the Adventure Lifestyle: Nomad, Retiree, Homebody”. The Ecuadorian edition had specific references, some carried through in this book, to local resources, names of documents, customs and practices. Because everyone’s circumstances and the names of local documents will vary, I encourage the reader to take what is useful from this book and apply it. There may only be a few key points and documents that you will need. Some perhaps so key they may save your life. This is why I offer this edition. It’s for you.
Wherever you live in the world, use this book to obtain relevant ideas and information you can combine to develop a plan specific to yourself, loved ones, and your friends to prepare for medical crises, incapacitation, and the end of life.
This book was written for you. Please share this information with your friends and loved ones. You could be saving a life. The book is available as a download for $15 via PayPal. You can order your copy by emailing me at expatmedassist@gmail.com
