This is the first recommendation I have made in 13 years. If you are looking for an interesting and relaxing getaway I would suggest you look no further than the Izhcayluma Eco-Resort in Vilcabamba. It is a beautiful, well maintained resort nestled in the mountains of Vilcabamba.
A shuttle leaves Cuenca to the resort so there is no problem with transportation. You can reserve a cabin that suits your needs.
There is a restaurant, bar, pool, yoga class and other amenities for you to enjoy. The staff is great, the accommodations wonderful, the food superb plus it is very affordable.
