A friend and I are visiting Cuenca Ecuador for the first time and wanted to see and get the feel for the city and surrounding areas. I would like to highly recommend Angel Pachez who served as our tour guide today. We had a very enjoyable day touring the area, photographing the views and spending time in quaint little villages and towns.
Of special note was our visit to San Bartolome where we saw step by step how guitars are handmade and the intricate detail that goes into each one. We visited a ceramic shop and watched a very talented artisan hand craft a statue of a musician and shopped in her gallery. We visited Chordeles and shopped at a wonderful jewelry store (Joyeria). Our day culminated with lunch is a charming little restaurant.
Angel knew exactly where to take us and personally knew the people we encountered. He speaks very good English and is able to provide a history of the area and the artisans we met. Again, I would highly recommend Angel Pachez.
