“Flesh Core: A Visceral Feast for the Senses” by Joy Gabriel Olson
We are just days away from launching our first art installation of 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited! This show is bold, shocking, and irresistibly inviting.
“Flesh Core” is a decadent display of glittering, dripping food sculptures—a sensory journey that reimagines food as both feast and fantasy, where desire and discomfort collide. It’s a glitter-stained dreamscape where beauty meets butchery and sparkle meets sinew, offering a deeply personal—and at times unsettling—exploration of our complex relationship with food and the body.
Opening Night:
Wednesday, April 30 at 6 PM
About the Exhibition:
Artist Joy Gabriel Olson shares,
“I hope these sculptures encourage reflection on our relationship with meat, food, and our own bodies. While I’m not opposed to eating meat, the inherent violence of the process moves me to honor the living beings that become our nourishment. At the same time, I’m fascinated by the quiet brutality of inhabiting a body—this tender vessel of flesh we rely on for survival, constantly feeding and sustaining it. I also hope the work evokes empathy for those who live with food sensitivities, which can profoundly shape—and sometimes distort—our relationship with eating.”
The exhibit is curated by BJ Eiswerth and Ximena Moscoso.
