Let’s see:
1 year trying your best with Biliguo?
5 years listening to native speakers without knowing how/what to listen?
10 years making the same pronunciation mistakes? (by the way, learning a second language is not much different than learning in life).
20 years living in a Spanish speaking country just watching from the corner the Spanish conversations of the neighbors?
Is language acquisition reserved for a few?
There is a huge difference between a person who masters a language than the one who just looks from the corner: the commitment and the frequency of using this language (Some people have to learn, some people love to learn. Both of them make big progress).
I have met people who are fluent in Spanish without knowing they already are since being fluent doesn’t mean perfect rather being able to understand and being able to give an immediate answer without having to wait centuries in the process.
I have met people who struggle with speaking and listening despite doing well with reading and writing (they read the local newspaper from Monday to Friday).
I have also met those who think they master the language because that is his/her score in the app. They end up confused between “ser bueno” and “estar bueno”.
Just in case when someone ask you “¿Cómo estás?” never say “I am good/Soy bueno”. And, never ever reply “Estoy bueno”. Wanna know why? You probably already get it! (wink).
Anyway, how long is it taking you to feel confident and relaxed while speaking Spanish?
Already comfortable with your Spanish? Congrats!
Not confident enough?
