Indigenous Achuar and Shuar families demonstrated remarkable resilience when hundreds lost their homes, belongings, animals and crops when the Pastaza River overflowed its banks due to the excessively heavy rainfall in the Amazon. Families living close to the river were left in shock and despair. The river claimed everything in minutes.
