December is quickly coming to a close, which leaves us to ponder plans for next month. The first thing that came to mind is that the Best of GringoPost 2024 voting will be held next month. We were “tied” for first place in 2023, after being in business for only 6 months.
It did not escape our attention that during this past weekend at least two other dining establishments held their “once in a while” BBQ dinners. The establishments have excellent reputations, and we are sure that their food and the experience were at least adequate. We know that you will continue to patronize these establishments, and we urge you to continue spending your food dollars in the place of your choice.
But with the GringoPost vote looming, that proper question to consider right now is whether the food you were served was the ‘Best’ BBQ available in Cuenca; not whether it was just good enough.
For those of you who have never tried our food, we are cooking BBQ every week, not just once in a while. We spend 5 hours preparing our ribs each day, and cook them on a wood-fired smoker from beginning to end. We have other menu items that take us several days to prepare because of our exacting procedures. We have a weekly changing menu that keeps things fresh. And we never stop trying to improve our food and our service. Just ask your friend or neighbor that has tried our food. And check our online reviews on TripAdvisor and Google.
This week we are going to up our game and make our own bold statement about who has the Best BBQ in Cuenca. We are going to do what those other establishments do not dare to do. We are going to cook brisket.
Right now, there are 51 pounds of brisket in the cooler that we will prepare this week. We will have it ready at 1:00 on Friday. Of course, we will also have pork ribs, sandwiches, a full array of side dishes, and some new desserts for those people that are (gasp) not a fan of good beef.
Fair warning. The last time we cooked brisket, we started with 37 pounds, and it was all sold in 1 hour and ten minutes. If you want to be a part of the brisket feeding frenzy, then come early. But even if you miss the brisket, we will have plenty of other BBQ favorites throughout the day. A full menu will be posted here later in the week. Or see it at barbecue.cafe/menu
Due to the special nature of this event, we will not accept any reservations for tables or food prior to 11 AM on Friday. And do not forget, our food is available for carry-out and delivery by ordering on WhatsApp. (Again, only after 11 AM this Friday). Delivery is a wonderful thing since it looks like it may finally start raining again in Ecuador.
Remember to vote for the Best of GringoPost next month.
