Yesterday, waiting for the visa approval for another client, I had the chance to have a long and productive conversation with the person in charge of the Ecuadorian Citizenship at the Azogues Migration Office, and I received the attached document, with the latest requirements and, it is very clear.
People above 65 years old, are “exentos” (exempted, relieved) to accomplish the general knowledge questions about history, geographic, culture and current reality of Ecuador (the written questionnaire), but have to do the personal interview to prove that they can speak and write in Spanish. In the attached picture, underlined lines.
The only way to avoid both things, the questionnaire and the interview in Spanish is, if you studied a course, post-grade, here in Ecuador and in Spanish, and recognized by the SENESCYT.
Also, the famous “reglamento”, the rules that will help to understand or process the things that are not clear into the Migration law changes, done in the last February, is not published yet, so, many things in migration, goes to the consideration of the migration officers.
