And while all the above is fantastic and incredibly affordable at only $15/night, the host family makes this stay extra special. They are kind, generous, and eager to make your stay enjoyable. Under the supervision of the adults, my initial hikes were escorted by the children to show me where to find the best places and share the flora/fauna. Watching them play in the waterfall’s lagoon or swinging in the forest was an absolute delight. Various family members shared their extensive knowledge of the surrounding forest. If you want quiet and relaxing, this is a great place. But they have also hosted a group that rappelled down the waterfall! If you want to explore all that Baños has to offer, it is only a 10-15 minute drive from the cabin. Need a ride? Simply ask.
If you have questions, you can contact Danny at 098 341 4263 on WhatsApp. He speaks Spanish and Kichwa. Additional family members speak English. My Spanish is limited but the family’s kindness, patience, and humor made communication a breeze. (Google Translate helps in a pinch.) I learned so much from this amazing, hard-working, honest, open family. If you want more details from me, I’m happy to assist. I have no financial stake in this business. I think everyone should have the opportunity for such a wonderful getaway and truly can’t recommend them enough.
