Welcome to the Viva Vivaldi Festival, second edition, instituted in our city by Maestro Michael Meissner, Principal Director of the Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca. The Viva Vivaldi Festival pays tribute to Baroque and Renaissance music, stylistic times rarely attended by large symphony orchestras, as they require smaller groups and with fewer instruments than a current symphony orchestra. The Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca has been divided into two baroque orchestras that will delight young and old in different settings and repertoires with two international soloists who will undoubtedly play the most sensitive fibers of the musical taste of our wonderful audiences: Osvaldo Urbieta – Violinist (Mexico) and Florin Burlacu – Violoncellista (Romania), owners of a great training and international experience winners of important competitions in several countries. We will also have the outstanding participation of the institution’s musicians: Natalie Rojas (Clavecín), Marco Saula, Xavier Mora, Santiago Paccha, Patricio Lituma (Violin), Yackson Sánchez (Violoncello), Adam Phillips and Ángel Macancela (Trumpet).
The four concerts have free admission and wait for you to enjoy this sound journey to the past, with the best baroque music in the beautiful churches of La Merced and Catedral Vieja.
