Hi all,
Again, I received some emails, asking me for the tourist visa extension process, so, the information, up to date, is as follows.

When you arrive in Ecuador, for the first time, you receive a 90-day tourist visa (not 3 months) … then, after those 90 days expire, you have 10 days, (weekend and holiday included) to extend your tourist visa for 90 days more.
So, you have to come to Loja, go to the Migration Police Office (or any Migration police office in Ecuador), located on the first floor of the former Predesur building. All the taxi drivers know where it is.
Bring a copy of your passport and a copy of the entry stamp… just in case.
Ask the guard for the “Policía de Migración Oficina”, then go there, tell them that you want the extensión de visa de turismo. The ladies there will ask for your passport, check in the system if everything is ok, then, they will give you a little ticket with a code, to go to the bank to pay. The bank to pay is Banco del Pacífico which is walking distance from the migration police – maybe 8 blocks (some long blocks).
Go to the bank, if you are above 65-years-old, the guard at the bank will take you to the special window. Pass to the cashier your passport, the ticket and the money.
The tourist visa extension is $141.67 plus 57 cents for bank commission. After this, return to the migration police, give them the payment slip, and they will give you a printed form with the visa extension.
That’s all… You will have another 90 days.
PS, no 50% discount if you are above 65-years-old.
