On the side of a hill, overlooking a smooth flowing river sits a beautifully built eco-lodge with two heated swimming pools. I just returned from a totally relaxing three days of kind service, excellent food, fun with the pool table, and most of all tranquility surrounded by green, flowering nature. Only 1 and a half hours from Cuenca.
The owners, Luis and Pietro and Luis, Jr. are excellent hosts who even, at our request, invited a local dance group to come for an evening of traditional Canari entertainment. Close by, a short walk along the river, is a sombrero factory where the women will show you the steps in making the “Panama” hats. And of course, there is a nice shop. In addition it is possible to organize a hike to the Chopsi Cave and Canari Fortress archeological site. A lovely walk, not strenuous.
