Dr. Astudillo recently performed a hernia surgery for me and my recovery was incredible. I went home from the hospital the same day. Pain was minimal to nonexistent and his careful follow through were just stellar. Thus, I highly recommend Dr. Andres Astudillo Cordova at Clinica Latino in Cuenca as a general surgeon with specialties in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Astudillo is a very experienced surgeon (for example, he has performed hundreds of inguinal hernia surgeries), speaks excellent English (his children are American citizens), and was mostly trained in the US. In addition to other medical training, he had a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery in the US and is (was) a member of the California Medical Board and a US bariatric society.

My laparoscopic surgery was performed in about an hour and I was able to resume my normal chores at home on the same day as the surgery. My exercise routine was restricted for two weeks but my normal exercise routine was reestablished in less than four weeks after a full recovery.
Over the last ten years, members of my family have had surgeries performed at all of Cuenca’s three major hospitals as well as Clinica Latino. The surgical charges and the treatment given by the medical staff at Clinica Latino has compared very favorably with the surgical charges and treatment given at Cuenca’s three major hospitals.
