I’ve been a customer of Tienda Nectar for over 5-years. When I first moved to Cuenca, I asked around if there was a North American type of health food store that Gringos are accustomed too. Everyone said “Yes… it’s Tienda Nectar!”
Nectar offers a wide variety of organic products that are wonderful. I just love this store! They have homemade artisan deli products, which I love (ie: raw dairy, sauerkraut, kimchi, gluten-free crackers, kombucha, etc.). They have lovely dry foods too, such as: kelp, spirulina, chlorella, a variety of nuts and nut butters, chocolates, snacks, etc.
I also very much value the many varieties they have of vitamins, herbs, supplements, and super-food powders. They offer coconut oil, liquid minerals, and specialty items that I am a accustomed to from being a Expat.
One type of item that I so much value is they supply a variety of artisan body care products. What I appreciate is things like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, lip balm, deodorant, face cream, etc. Of course these are made with natural ingredients all free of chemicals.
On certain days of the week, they offer fresh organic produce, baked sourdough bread, raw dairy products, and more. Certain times of the year, they have specialty products available.
I have had a number of minor health concerns, and they always give such great tips to take certain vitamins, herbs, detox diets, supplements etc. If something is not in stock, they have great suggestions for similar products.
I try to purchase my favorite products at Tienda Nectar, because I want to support a very important small business that provides our community with great natural health care! In order to get these specialty items, the owner often has to drive throughout parts of Ecuador, so we can have them available here in Cuenca. I value the time and effort this takes to provide the most popular items that Expats love to have available. Of course there are many Ecuadorians that love Nectar too. They also value these unique products available in El Centro.
I feel so well taken care of by Ken, Yianni and Tania as they are like family now! I wish to send out a big thanks of appreciation for all of the staff and their families for supporting our community with their great products, services and care!
