Siluetas Urbana, drawing outdoors

Oct
10

Siluetas Urbana is a guided afternoon of drawing outdoors, exploring three different locations in Cuenca as the light changes from afternoon to golden hour.

Artist Cristian León will lead the experience, introducing different drawing and painting techniques through short 5–10 minute demonstrations at each location. He’ll bring materials to experiment with, including pencil, sepia and sanguine, watercolor, acrylic, and oil monotype — a technique that involves painting on glass and transferring the image onto cardboard to create a unique print. You’re welcome to experiment with Cristian’s materials or work with your own.

The changing light is part of the experience — from bright afternoon sun and strong shadows to the softer, warmer light of golden hour as the day moves toward sunset.

We’ll make three stops, with about 30 minutes of drawing at each: starting with the balconies, patio, and neighborhood around idiomARTE, continuing down the stairs to the Septenario Bridge and riverfront, and ending at Puente Roto.

This is a guided drawing outing rather than a formal workshop, with plenty of freedom to work in your own way. Cristian will share ideas, techniques, and feedback throughout the afternoon. All levels are welcome, especially those with some drawing or painting experience.
