A little north of Paute is an amazing eco-agricola large orchard of apples, pears, and plums. The owner, Adolfo Verdugo, welcome groups of 6 for a 2-hour hike through the amazing hilltop where the fruit is ripe and ready for picking.
Adolfo is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, and he loves to show off his beautiful orchards. Being in the fresh air and surrounded by beautiful trees and views over the valley of Paute, was like being in a dream. I went with two adults and three kids: 5, 7, and 11. The kid loved climbing trees, picking fruit, hugging trees. A gorgeous day.
I do have to mention that there is a lot of uphill climbing; rubber boots are recommended.
After we descended to the shop next to the church, we paid the $15 for the tour and for the fruit we had collected. No charge for the fruit we consumed en route.
