When I arrived in Cuenca, I was experiencing severe and unexplained pain throughout my upper body. A friend recommended Dr. James Pesántez, and within a day, I had an appointment with him.

From the beginning, he took my condition extremely seriously. He immediately began assessing what might be causing my pain, coordinated my care with other doctors and specialists when necessary, and made certain that nothing was overlooked. At every stage, I felt that I was being genuinely cared for, not simply treated.
Dr. Pesántez is extraordinarily thorough, compassionate, and attentive. His bedside manner is unmatched, and he consistently goes above and beyond to make his patients feel comfortable, informed, and reassured. He is also bilingual and speaks English fluently, which was enormously helpful to me and immediately put me at ease.
Over the course of my treatment, I have been continually amazed by the dedication and personal concern he brings to his work. In my experience with doctors over the years, I have never encountered this combination of medical thoroughness, accessibility, compassion, and genuine devotion to a patient’s well-being.
