In desperation, I got her permission to try to find someone. I found Jorge Monje recommended on GringoPost. I sent him an email detailing what I had tried without success. Because of the driving restrictions and curfew, he agreed to come Monday and gave me a time. When he was going to be delayed, he sent me a WhatsApp message with a revised time and he met that time exactly.
He quickly found an immediate problem and fixed that, but there is a more serious and extensive repair that will be needed in a couple of weeks. He gave me a factura so I could deduct the cost from my next rent payment as my landlady requested.
He provided me with a photo of the area that will need more repairs and agreed to speak with my landlady if she has any questions.
Did I mention that he speaks English? The cost was minimal for this repair.
