Announcing Star Singer appearing at Common Grounds January 15 at 7 PM
I’m Jerry Price. I am delighted to pass along another little fun true story about Star Singer. When Star Singer worked at Cosentino’s flower store in Malibu, Jamie Lee Curtis walked in one day looking for a bunch of roses to buy. She looked at Star Singer and said: “I’m in a great hurry. No time to talk. Just get the roses and let’s go!” Star Singer thought to himself – – She probably just said that to avoid the usual boring situation where the store worker wants to get into… so you’re Jamie Lee Curtis… and all. Star Singer responded with: “Okay. Right to the job at hand. But, you do want to hear about how my mother dated your father in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.” Jamie says: “Wadda ya mean?” Star Singer explains that a fun story that all in his family like to reminisce is when Bernard Schwartz (who later became the Hollywood actor, Tony Curtis) went to high school in Brooklyn, he used to hug and kiss a girl by the name of Marion Bloom. Marion Bloom is Star Singer’s mother! “My family to this day gets a big kick out of that story.”
Surprisingly, Jamie Lee Curtis had a wonderful and happy reaction to the story and told Star Singer it all checks out. Her dad did go to school in Brooklyn and Williamsburg was quite familiar to her because of her dad’s early days. She purchased her beautiful dozen roses and thanked Star Singer for the … story and the entertainment. She walks to leave the store and just before closing the door, she turned to Star Singer as she smiled and said: “God bless you!”
