There are a few things that make us unique among non-profits. First, we meet one-on-one with each person who comes to us for assistance. And instead of simply handing them things, we let them browse our thrift shop and shop for free. This way, they get exactly what they need, and by giving them the chance to make their own choices, we are providing them with a sense of dignity.
Secondly, we take steps to make sure things are not re-sold by visiting people in their homes and assessing their needs. Thirdly, what about that stuff you think is not worth anything? We have opened up a separate shop called Maria’s Garage Sale, run by Maria herself (one of our patients). A percentage of what she sells goes into a separate account to support her children. She represents all the single mothers who will be directly supported through proceeds from the sales in the garage sale.
We believe that Esperanza Thrift Shop is the best place for those things you no longer need or want. You can feel proud and assured that your donations always are put to the best use possible. Send us a message and we will schedule a time to pick-up your donations, or you can drop them off at Juan Montalvo 8-18 and Mariscal Sucre from Monday-Friday from 10-5, or Saturday from 10-2. Thank you so much – we could not do any of this without you.
