I can’t recommend Dr. Santiago Romo enough! I moved to Cuenca from the US in July, having to use wheelchair assistance at the three airports it took me to get here. My hips had gotten so bad that my mobility was non existent. I saw Dr Romo for a consultation in late August and had X-rays and an MRI done so that he could see where my problems were.
As I was not ready for a full hip replacement he recommended an arthroscopy of my right hip. In late September, under IV sedation and an epidural he was able to repair a labral tear, remove a large bone spur (that was causing agonizing groin pain) and clean out the joint. During the same minimally invasive surgery, he also treated a herniated disc in my lower spine with stem cells.
Not only is he a skilled orthopedic specialist, he is kind and caring. He arranged for in home PT which I just completed (and she was wonderful as well). Two weeks ago I had a stem cell treatment on my left hip and I have all of my mobility back! I couldn’t walk 50 feet without pain when I first arrived and now I get up every morning for a two mile walk along the river before starting my day. I truly have never felt so well taken care of by the medical profession in my life. I’ve already referred several of my new friends to Dr. Romo. He’s also serving the role of my PCP and I couldn’t be more pleased.
