Andean catfish is critically endangered

The fish is threatened by human activities in the area with loss and fragmentation of its habitat, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature has assessed its conservation status as being “critically endangered”.

Ecuador falls under CITES regulations and under Ecuadorian National Law it is illegal to exploit endangered species to include Andean catfish. Putting it on a menu is a form of exploitation. Selling it is a form of exploitation. The Flora and Fauna of Ecuador MUST be protected. 1 0

Thank you for posting this. Protecting the fauna of Ecuador is so very important. The Andean catfish is on the verge of going extinct from overfishing and consumption.
