This workshop is a perfect sampler for newcomers to clay, offering the opportunity to learn the basic techniques of hand building, while creating 4-5 finished pieces. Projects will include Japanese teacups, textured pinch vessels, sculptural forms, platters and wall pockets.
Students will learn how to create beautiful surface finishes for their pottery using traditional glazes, oxides and stains, and pigmented clay slips. Elements and principles of art (e.g. form, texture, movement, contrast) will be introduced and explored through individual responses to projects.
Instructor Lynne Zelasko brings over 50 years of working in clay, advanced academic training, and art education experience to her students. All glazes are created in the studio and materials used are high quality USA imported clay, raw glaze materials, and decorative stains.
